Free Screening with a Kindred Therapist!

What Is a Therapy Screening?

A therapy screening consists of a caregiver interview, a basic assessment focused on areas of concern, and a few questions for your child, if relevant. Kindred therapists are well experienced and trained to identify if further, more in-depth assessment is needed. Our therapists are eager to help and enjoy answering caregiver’s questions. We know it can be difficult when you leave your child’s doctor with more questions and our specialized team can’t wait to provide answers for you. You will leave the screening with the peace of mind knowing you are reaching out to the correct resources. Screenings are usually about 15 minutes long, but sometimes can take a little longer.

Screenings are not used to qualify a child for therapy. They are strictly used to determine if a full assessment is warranted.

Signs Your Child May Need a Therapy Screening

You should consider a screening if you answer “yes” to any of the following questions:

  • Are you concerned about your child’s readiness to start school?
  • Is your child struggling to care for themselves?
  • Are they failing to meet developmental milestones for standing, walking or running?
  • Is a nursing infant failing to latch or is an older child unable to feed themselves?
  • Does the child avoid communicating or socializing?
  • Is there a medical situation that impacts their strength, mobility or speech?
  • Does the child choke or gag when nursing or feeding?
  • Is the child unable to pronounce certain sounds or do they stutter?
  • Does the child have meltdowns or get angry when there are changes?

Our speech, physical, occupational, and feeding therapists can help with the above concerns. Come talk to us during a free screening!
